The UK airline will offer free fast onboard internet by way of satellite agreement
Flyers flying with British Airways can soon use quick internet in the air at no cost after a major deal from the billionaire's satellite provider.
Free plus High-speed Internet Across the Board
The carrier announced that the complimentary, “reliable and lightning-fast” internet offering through the satellite provider will be offered for travelers in coach, premium economy, or premium cabins starting soon.
Broad Implementation Across Multiple Flight Operators
The umbrella firm of BA, International Airlines Group, confirmed it had secured an agreement with the satellite firm for providing wifi services on more than 500 jets across the group's operators, which also include Aer Lingus, Iberia, plus Vueling.
Smooth Connectivity from Boarding through Arrival
British Airways explained that this implementation for this system was included in a multi-billion pound “transformation” program and would provide lag-free internet service for flyers from the gate through landing, including when in flight over seas or isolated areas.
Customers can hook up multiple devices while they will not have to use a unique password.
Transformative for us and travelers, elevating onboard service during flights on BA through providing them seamless wifi from gate to gate.”
Current Wifi Options
Restricted wifi service remains available to BA travelers through most of their aircraft through its .air platform.
Enrollees in the airline's reward scheme are able to transmit messages plus text-only correspondence during flights free of charge, while travelers wishing to access audio, films, and films during their flight and are not travelling in premium cabins might pay between four pounds ninety-nine to £21.99 for one internet package.
The Satellite System
Starlink operates a system of many thousands of orbiting devices and it's run by SpaceX’s company.
Ongoing Upgrades at British Airways
Their executive team have been focusing to improve British Airways back after a long time of financial constraints, system failures, labor disputes, plus mass redundancies.
British Airways explained that implementation with AI contributed to it to reach its punctuality at peak performance since 2012.
Financial Performance
Earlier this year, British Airways announced a jump in financial performance for the first half of this year, helping to push its owner earnings higher.
The group will announce its financial performance for the three months recently on Friday.
Additional Satellite Agreements
The airline's news follows days after wireless operator another UK company announced it was teaming up alongside SpaceX to improve cellular service in the countryside across the United Kingdom, enabling users to automatically link handsets through space-based systems if there is no standard network coverage exists.
