Keely Hodgkinson Wraps Up Campaign with Winning Performance at Athlos Meet in New York
The athlete recorded her personal best of one minute 54.61 seconds the previous season in London.
The Olympic champion concluded her two-lap campaign with a win at the all-female Athlos event in New York on Friday night.
{The reigning Olympic gold medallist, who earned bronze at the World Championships last month, dominated an impressive win in one minute 56.53 seconds in what was only her sixth race in a year impacted by a muscle issue.
Fellow Briton and global silver winner Georgia Hunter Bell took the runner-up spot once more in one minute 58.33 seconds, while the athlete from St Vincent Shafiqua M. (one minute 58.57) secured third place.
"I haven't competed much this season so it was likely less of a struggle for me to go out there and want to give it something," said the 23-year-old.
"The environment at the event is incredible so it was really, really fun."
The women-only meet packed Icahn Stadium in its second year, introducing a festive vibe to traditional track, with live music and special crowns substituting standard medals.
The 23-times tennis major winner Serena W., who is married to the founder of Athlos Alexis O., was present to present the victors with their tiaras.
Last year's winners took home $60,000 (forty-four thousand six hundred and three pounds) - among the biggest cash prizes in track and field.
The competition also drew some of the sport's biggest names, as the Kenyan triple Olympic champion and world record holder Faith Kipyegon won the mile, crossing the finish line in 4:17.78.
The US Brittany B., the 200m bronze medallist from last year's Paris Olympics, secured the sprint double.
